MCAT, and Anthranx, and Push-ups oh my!

The only thing to fear is fear itself... and the MCAT which I believe is fear incarnate.

This is the monster I hear all the other pre-meds talk about, those who have and haven't taken the marathon of an exam.  I was anticipating this Kaplan course to be intimidating but I really enjoyed how approachable our course instructor seems; the way she laid everything out and explained how to study for the exam made it seem less monstrous.  I think I'll just have to take it one day and course book at a time but Im hoping I'll feel more confident once this program is done.

Right after the Kaplan course was done for the day, two of the medical students, Molly Bedenbaugh and Julie Coursen, here this summer gave a presentation on Medical Toxicology and Bioweapons.  Quite honestly, its fascinating in a terrifying way to see how tiny little compounds can affect the body in such a detrimental way.  What's more terrifying is to hear how people will apply that through terrorism such as the Tokyo Subway Sarin Attack and the Amerithrax of 2001.  Im especially interested in these effects as I want to one day work with a team such as Doctors Without Borders.  Im still unsure what specialty I want to do but I do know that in some of the countries that they treat in people are subject to some of the horrors of these bioweapons.

The only thing I have to say about the Fitness test is this: push-ups are my one true nemesis in this world.  Not standardized testing, push-ups.  We all survived, however, as we do every year and have the sweaty picture to prove it.  :)

(Also, word of the day: Floppy baby syndrome.)
