Last Hoop to Jump Through (or so it seems)

I used to be incredibly nervous about interviews or any kind of public speaking. After participating in different organizations and classes that required participation I feel as if my anxiety over that become substantially better. Thinking about medical school interviews, however, is a whole other ball game I feel like as there is so much on the line. The medical students who came to talk to us today (Nora, Anna, and Julie) mentioned something that I have heard before: Once you get to the interview they just want to see if they like you as a person and if whatever you wrote on paper transitions into reality. Plus, seeing the schedule for interview day makes it look like a marathon; early morning start and nonstop events where you're being observed at every turn. The journey to become a physician just seems to be an ultramarathon overall. Hearing it from the medical students though, how they told us not to freak out and how to practice, did make me feel better. I liked going through the multi mini interview (MMI) prompts. I was kind of surprised at how many of them mentioned Canada!
But it wasn't just the practice that helpes but hearing how they had freaked out and were nervous too made me feel better (especially since they still were accepted). Their suggestion to use the STAR method was helpful but I'm definitely going to have to practice highlighting my strengths instead of my weaknesses in an interview setting...
The afternoon was filled with more beloved MCAT prep and practice. Just another hoop to jump through before medical school.
