I wanna be where the M1s are...

Gah, med students!! I see them and I want to be them. Im excited to see so many MedEx-ers, not only because it gives me hope but because they seem so happy and excited that they've made it! I just want to follow them around all day, go to their classes and watch their EMT training but that I guess that will have to wait... for now.

For now, we get to hangout with Tier 1 students for the first time. I really want to give them all the help that I can, especially because when I was in their shoes I wanted to know everything about college and applications so I could get ready. Marina, Sanjana, and I went to join a group of Tier 1's and it was difficult to get them to open up to us at first. Eventually they came around and I was glad to help. I tried not to be too enthusiastic and overbearing.

After that we had a VERY cool research presentation by Dr. Rich Goodwin. His research focuses on 3D Models of Development, Disease, and Cell therapies as an associate professor USC SOM Greenville. I really enjoy research, clinical or benchwork and I know I want to incorporate that somehow into my future medical career. Listening to his presentation was neat because I enjoyed seeing his process to create the experimental design needed to find a solution for implant rejection. I had no idea that plastic surgeons dealt with that issues and there's much needed research on the topic. I had no idea that the heart formed itself during development based on the flow of fluids in it. Its just incredibly fascinating!!! Science just never bores me. Unless its geology.
