Twittering About Bibliotherapy

This morning was slower but still fun pulling together our interdisciplinary projects. After that Sarah and Henry lead our tier through a disease outbreak simulation. It's scary to see how fast a a disease will spread and how much work it takes compared to the work it takes to fix all the damage it causes. There's also just so many different angles that you need to think of...

Little budgies at the Foothills Presbyterian Community!

Second day of bibliotherapy gone and done! First things first, half of our group got lost trying to find the entrance to Foothills Presbyterian Community. Eventually, we made it and the nurses showed us which hallways we could walk around to find patients to talk to. At the beginning it was a little nerve-racking to approach patients. Another Tier III student, Marina, and I wandered for the first few minutes, peering into rooms. Many of the patients were asleep or busy with other visitors. It was difficult to read weather or not they would want to talk to us too. Eventually we got our mojo going and found some patients to talk to. Of course, just like regular people, some were easier to talk to than others. I could also tell that some patients simply wanted to talk (even though they were slightly incomprehensible to me) and some wanted to be left alone. There was a bit of a learning curve to reading when patients were finished talking and wanted me to leave or wanted me to stay longer. Practice practice practice, like my dad says, is the only thing that can make me better at any of these things.
