Its Not A Program...

... Its a relationship. Mr. Squire always says this when he talks about MedEx and I believe him, especially after today. Not only are the people who work hard to make this summer happen and amazing support system but the people in our tiers are there for us as well. Today was a good example of this, especially when Sarah and Henry lead the Mental Health Talk. Not to go into detail since everything discussed was in a safe space but there were a lot of tears. For me it gave me a better insight into who my fellow tier members are because even on Week 4 there's still a lot that we don't know about each other. This was one of the most significant days, to me at least.

After lunch we got a second chance to talk to the Tier I students. Its fun to help them with their presentations and talking to them reminds me of all the stress that I was going through at that time in high school; I tried to help lessen that as much as I could and answer any questions about college. Its not that bad, honestly, and I remember that the more people I talked to about applications the easier they seemed to me and got me excited about graduating. I felt like Hope did the equivalent of that for us when she talked about AMCAS and how to fill it out. There's just so much to keep track of and so little time honestly.

Last but not least Mr. Squire gave us his Top Ten talk! Every year at MedEx he gives our tier this speech and it always makes me feel less stressed about applying to medical school. Its not just feeling confident that I feel as if Im on the right track for the different categories but he gets me so excited with the presentation every time (especially when we all shout "BELIEVE" haha).

This Saturday we also had our service day at the LOT Project! It was fun for Hope to organize this for us with her friends from Anderson. The people who ran the project were really cool too and had decorated their space in an artsy way that I liked. The murals were my favourite part! But aside from having an interesting space the people who ran it were very organized and passionate about their cause to help the community; I was really impressed.
